Gust of wind alternates between
stealth-based and
dialog driven game play. Missions are small but detailed sandboxes with a lot of climbable elements and freedom of movement. The player's actions and choices are reflected in dialog with NPCs.
The story is set in a rust-covered world with industrial age gadgets. Mutant seagulls are scavenging the ruins of ancient harbor towns for equipment that will help their home town endure in the constant war against rival factions. The main character is the stealth expert of a crew of warriors sent to scavenge technology detrimental to the survival of their home town.
